The First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare
Nebraska Shakespeare partnered with The Durham Museum to host the First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare national tour, and help kick-off the month-long exhibition.
“The Durham Museum is excited to announce that Nebraskans can now plan to experience first-hand the wonder and rareness of the First Folio. From Shakespeare aficionados to students studying the Bard’s plays for the first time, this exhibit is a rare opportunity for people in Nebraska to experience one of the most influential books in history.”
-Jessica Brummer, Director of Marketing, The Durham Museum
To help commemorate the event, Nebraska Shakespeare presented its annual Director's Reading Series at the Durham. where actors read excerpts and scenes from The Two Noble Kinsmen.
Exploring the signature lines, major moments, and compelling characterizations of Shakespeare's lesser known works, the reading took place at 3 PM on Saturday, April 9th, amidst other Exhibit Kick-Off activities.
A discussion followed outlining important themes, challenges of production, and conceptual interpretations. The Reading Series is an opportunity for our audience to hear the rarely-produced works of William Shakespeare, presented by Nebraska Shakespeare actors, and engage in dialogue about the play with the Artistic Director.
