Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour

During the months of September and October, Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour takes Shakespeare's work into the classrooms and communities of Nebraska and Western Iowa.

"Fortunately, for the past 6 years Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour, has had some very loyal schools. Teachers and administrators that make it a priority for our tour and workshops to return for their students year after year. Not only have these schools had the opportunity to see our productions and programming expand, but we have had the honor to watch their students, their teachers, and even the schools attitude toward theatre and Shakespeare grow and mature. Our company know students by name, they remember our previous parts, even how our hair styles have changed-we have had a unique experience together that tends to be remembered. Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour may only visit a school for a few hours of one day in the school year, but the lessons and memories of the experience lasts quite a while longer- for both student and Nebraska Shakespeare alike."

-Sarah Carlson-Brown, Associate Artistic Director - Education
Nebraska Shakespeare is excited to announce the continuation of our acclaimed touring program, with a performance of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and adjoining workshops in September and October of 2012.

Our Touring Program is designed to use the work of William Shakespeare to offer a multitude of educational activities to illuminate and examine the life themes of Shakespeare’s plays, broaden students’ vocabulary, word analysis skills, and capacity for comprehension and fluency of text, and to allow students hands-on knowledge of theatre as an art-form.

Along with a fully-produced touring production, we also provide three additional outlets, designed in alignment with Nebraska’s standards for education, to optimize students’ learning experiences:

Post-Performance Discussions
In the discussion sessions, students are able to openly interact with the cast. Topics include style, text analysis, and vocabulary, and students are encouraged to discover conditions of the human experience that connect with challenges and experiences they face today.

Workshops
The hour-long workshops allow active engagement in the learning process and can run concurrently to accommodate 60 students (with a 20:2 students – facilitators ratio). Administrators can choose from our three standardized workshop options or workshop offerings can be molded to meet their curricular or performance-based needs. Our workshops can be conducted on a gym floor, open stage, band or chorus room, or in a classroom setting with moveable desks.
