Missy Wigley joined Nebraska Shakespeare in 2020 as the Director of Engagement with 16 years of community outreach and fundraising experience. Prior to Nebraska Shakespeare, Missy worked as a liaison between members of Congress and National Education Loan Network, a global education management corporation. She also worked in operations, communications, and fundraising for several political organizations as well as marketing for an independent bookstore. She received her Master’s in Theatre History from Florida State University with an emphasis on Musical Theatre History and American Theatre History. Her thesis, Beth Henley: A Critical Analysis featured chapters on three of the author’s works that were unpublished at the time. Before graduate school, Missy worked for the Lied Center for Performing Arts and Nebraska Repertory Theatre. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in History and Theatre from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Missy began her theatrical career by volunteering at the Lincoln Community Playhouse where she acted, stage managed, and worked backstage on several shows for the children’s theatre. She’s excited to return to her theatrical roots with Nebraska Shakespeare.
