Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour is proud to announce its 2011 touring production of Much Ado About Nothing. This 75-minute performance will tour middle and high schools in Nebraska and Western Iowa, including the cities of Omaha, Lincoln, Cozad, Council Bluffs, West Point, and Kearney. For the sixth consecutive year, this tour exemplifies NS’s commitment and mission to serve as an inspiration for the people of greater Nebraska and Iowa by promoting the life-affirming values of Shakespeare.
Much Ado About Nothing is a play of comic capers with a touch of romance. The comedy’s story revolves around two couples: Beatrice and Benedick, Claudio and Hero. The first couple is engaged in a ‘merry war;’ proclaiming their scorn for love, marriage and each other. The other couple is made speechless by their love for one another.

“The kick-off weekend at Joslyn Castle is a wonderful opportunity for families in the community to experience our production,” said Vincent Carlson-Brown, Director of the show. “This is a smaller-scale, more intimate version of what we stage during Shakespeare on the Green and specifically designed for school and community performances in the region. I think it’s fantastic that Joslyn Castle is helping us bring this unique production of Much Ado to their beautiful setting and allowing us to share our work with a broader audience.”
The Nebraska Shakespeare On Tour '11 production of Much Ado About Nothing is Directed by Vincent Carlson-Brown, who also serves as Road Manager, is comprised of seven professional actors: Sarah Carlson-Brown, Dan Chevalier, Russell Daniels, Kersten Haile, Matthew Karasek, Lauren Krupski, Darin Kuehler and Kelly Misek. Costumes by Lydia Dawson, Steampunk props design by Darin Kuehler, touring set design by Robbie Jones, and Wesley A. Houston, Director of Production, is Stage Manager. This seasoned troupe of talented Shakespearean actors has come together to bring Shakespeare to schools and communities throughout Nebraska, including many underserved communities where a professional production of Shakespeare, with the beauty and richness of his plays, has not been experienced or made available.
